...I desire to help students understand the subject, not just give them answers. I want the student to understand where and how all those numbers and exponents, etc. relate to each other. It can be confusing.

...That was over a decade ago, but the subject came up again recently when I was studying for actuarial exams. Passing the MFE exam required the use of some differential equations, and the skill came back to me fairly quickly. I have experience with the preliminary actuarial exams and have passed the P, FM, MFE, and C exams, as well as exam 3L from the CAS side.

...I have also taught and tutored this subject for many years. My last student earned a 90 percent on his final exam. The last student I tutored in geometry raised his grade from a D to a B.
