Hello! My name is Sam and I am a current graduate student at Boston College. I have tutoring experience with students in the Brighton-Allston area through a volunteer program at BC.

...I was a mathematics major in college. Some of the recent students I have tutored were seeking help in algebra. I am currently tutoring another person in Algebra 2, and have previously tutored through a tutoring center in the same subject area.

...I also have three young children in school - all with As and Bs in their subjects. I work well with grade school and middle-school aged children, and find I can often break down topics to be readily accessible to even young learners and keep learning interesting. I was hyperactive as a child (some might say I still am), so I know what it's like to crave learning but to be easily distracted.

...Differential Equations builds on an understanding of four different levels of Calculus, all of which I have assisted other students in. This course takes the Calculus knowledge base a step further and creates new ways of problem solving and critical thinking. There are techniques to solve certain equations which allow students to understand other similar problems.

...I have also been assisting high school classes in precalculus and AP calculus. I am a retired physician. I decided to tutor after my retirement because I enjoy working with students of all ages, and I love exploring these subjects myself.
