...As a tutor working one-on-one, I use stories quite often. I give the student a basic set of vocabulary words and an outline accompanying the story that will be read, and then, after they understand the vocabulary and the basis of the story, we read the story, and I deduct my grammar lesson from this interaction. This way, students are not completing straight drills.
