I am currently an 8th grade math teacher in Broomfield. My path towards becoming a teacher began in high school when I tutored younger students in math. I continued to tutor in college while I earned my B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering but it wasn't until I taught an undergraduate biology course while working on my PhD that I realized my true calling was teaching.

...There are few things more rewarding than sharing the "eureka" moment with someone who had given up on understanding. Too often, people see their own lack of understanding as a lack of intelligence. In my experience, it usually means that the teacher explains in a way that doesn't make sense to the student or the student can't see a reason to care about the subject.
