...And so the way I go about helping a student learn it is by speaking to them in french anytime I have to interact with them. I might make exceptions for times when it is needed to speak english, but once I realize the student is capable of understanding French, I start communicating with them in French only. This helps them learn new words and get used to speaking it too.
