...In my experience, there is not a very strong correlation between a student's success in Algebra and a student's success in Geometry. In fact, many students who are used to excelling in math find themselves struggling during their bout with Geometry. Geometry more visual-spacial, and often is presented via problems that are solved like a puzzle.
