I focus on making sure that my students understand the fundamentals, and thereby learning the subject just becomes fun.

...For theory, I favor a voice-leading based approach to harmony such as that of Aldwell and Schachter and a historical approach to form. For ear training and solfege I rely on similar techniques, focusing on tendency tones and bass movements as well as traditional rhythm exercises and dictation. I have a BA in physics with honors.

...I used to explain math questions in a very simple way with details and examples to motivate students. I do not start a new lesson until I make sure my student/students totally learned last lessons. To do so, I usually ask questions from last session before starting a new session, and I may repeat the last lesson until I get satisfied about students' performances.

I believe my calm demeanor and focus on building confidence is what has made my approach so successful in the past. I also believe you will like this approach and will gain confidence from the progress that you see in yourself as we proceed.
