The ACT math questions are more straight-forward than those on the SAT, and the ACT reading passages are at a slightly lower level, but many students struggle with the ACT's science section. Also, the ACT covers trig and elements of pre-calculus while the SAT goes only through Algebra 2.

...The SAT Reading section is deceptively straightforward. There are tropes of questions that appear again and again and can be mastered with basic reading and comprehension strategies. I have all the study materials you would ever need, including half a dozen actual, previously administered SAT tests, so you shouldn't need to purchase extra books.
