...There I worked my way up from a volunteer to lead tutor and along the way realized how much I enjoy teaching. My feeling is that most everybody can learn math and science when it is taught in a way that works for them. The traditional methods don't always work and I take pride in my ability to find ways of explaining concepts which resonate with the student.

...I believe learning is an individualized process that gives power and responsibility to individuals and is often hindered by standard approaches which are not tailored to individual needs. I would much rather teach somebody how to think than tell them what to think. This is very difficult with one size fits all bullet points and check boxes.
