I am a botanical illustrator and mathematician. With that unusual combination, I've spent a lot of my life explaining math to art people and art to math people. The stereotype that artists don't do math well doesn't apply to me, but it has given me a lot of experience in finding new ways to explain and teach math for people who think differently.

...My first son applied and was accepted into Ivy League (Princeton), and 9 other non-Ivies, so I am familiar with what many colleges are looking for. He was given scholarship in all, in addition to scholarships I motivated him to apply for on the side. My 2nd son is in the middle of this process, but has already gotten three acceptances, 2 of which had significant scholarships.
