...Sometimes, other basic skills need to be reviewed! I try to relate the concepts to real-life situations so they have a reference point and then they can make the connection. My students usually feel much better about the algebra and then they have a solid foundation for future math courses/proficiency tests. "Pre-algebra" skills are the foundation for all high school mathematics.
