...Just because the next quiz or test hasn't been announced, doesn't mean that the student's understanding of the material that is current is not going to need to be assessed. So, why not begin "studying" the material at once? Effective studying techniques begin by identifying areas of weakness and strength and then committing the time towards the areas that are in need.

There is more abstraction than in Algebra 2 and a greater requirement for rigorous thinking. It can be a challenge to the student who didn't fully master what came before.

...A student's goal is my goal, be it mastering a certain subject area or raising a letter grade. I always track a student's progress based on what he or she hopes to accomplish. One way I do this is by going over old tests, making sure a student is proficient in the problems that are correct and helping in the areas where confusion still exists.
