...I believe in working one-on-one with students to help them understand what they are learning in school. I believe that homework is necessary to reinforce and solidify what they are learning so I often give extra homework. Often students just need someone to reinforce what they are learning or to explain it in a different way.

...I was tutored as a child (ages 8 - 13) by an experienced artist who taught me how to paint (oils). She emphasized the need for a good background in drawing/sketching and the knowledge of how to mix any color from six standard ones. She taught me patience and an appreciation for art. Her favorite thing to tell me was to "paint what you see".
