...Now what you have all been waiting for. As a student in high school, I loved the sciences and social sciences (e.g. history, psychology, English), but I also took a keen interest in mathematics. Now, I'm in college and I'm taking a variety of courses because as Francis Bacon famously said "Knowledge is Power." And, one of my priorities is for you to realize that too.

...I can teach you good test-taking strategies for the AP test or help you catch up/keep up in those classes as I have seen the material at a high school and college level. I have also taken multivariable calculus at Cal for students interested in more advanced calculus. I am strongest in chemistry as it is my major.

...Some students relate more to the language of math so I'll discuss the etymology of unique math terms. Math has a natural connection to history and science and Geometry especially connects well to the arts and architecture. I also find real-world applications for the math concepts so students see how relevant math is in their lives.

...I focus on being clear with the basic concepts of equations and graphs so the student feels confident moving on in algebra. I have tutored algebra II for over a year, both with Wyzant and through a private agency in Cupertino. This class can be a significant step up from algebra 1, and it often includes a student's first real exposure to trigonometry.

...There's a knack to writing proofs well; mostly making sure that each step is a step and not a leap from the previous one. Practice is what makes proof writing easier, and I'm happy to help you hone your skills. I got a kick out of teaching my school's Precalculus course for seven years.
