...Fortunately, I am capable of transmitting my enthusiasm for languages and words, at least to some extent, to my students. Most native speakers learn grammar instinctively, so they've never had to learn the rules in the way they are taught in a class. But I, as a speaker of another language, had no choice but to sit through grammar classes to be able to speak in English.
