...Calculus is the most important mathematical tool for describing the real world. I've tutored dozens of students for hundreds of hours in calculus, so I'm familiar with the subtopics where students are most likely to struggle. I've also written on-line content and parts of solution manuals for calculus courses, so I'm uniquely familiar with calculus as it's taught in the classroom and online.

...This includes Precalculus that is Algebra plus Trigonometry. I focus on three questions: What does the student know? What they don't? and How to build on the first to strengthen the second?

...I assess the skill level of the student and their strongest modality of learning and then prescribe work based on that assessment. I try a very patient and reinforcing approach with work prescribed at their level, stressing success, confidence, and the building of self-esteem. Where necessary, I also utilize special texts and worksheets.

...I have taught all age groups from kindergartner to graduate/professional students during my own teaching career of almost 30 years. I have also taught students who were not able to perform well in math and science while in primary and middle school. I am consistent and patient.

...Over the past 10 years I have used several remedial math programs including, but not limited to, Touch Math, Ten Marks and Cloud Nine. I have extensive experience teaching reading to both children and adults. I am a Level 1 certified Wilson Language training tutor and have done graduate level research on dyslexia and the teaching of reading.
