...I was part of the accelerated math program in middle school, taking Algebra I in 7th grade and Geometry in 8th. I completed both AP Calculus AB and BC my Junior and Senior year of high school and finished with a 4 and 5 on both AP tests. I entered my Freshman year at UC Irvine as a Math major.

I love to teach math. I saw in my first student teaching position that elementary school teachers don't know math so well, typically being good with language arts or a combination of all the subjects. Though I originally got my teaching credential in elementary education, that student teaching experience made me decide to teach math, which I did for most of my 26 years teaching.

...I am currently taking multivariable calculus in college but I am able to help with algebra 1! I am used to helping my younger siblings with their math and one who is currently taking algebra 1, I often help her and explain the math to her. I have tutored all my siblings and friends with pre algebra, and I am fairly good with algebra.

...If a student gets stuck on a particularly tricky subject or problem, I want them to know how to use the resources that they have. How can we use the textbook to the best potential, how do we maximize the usefulness of lecture notes, are there any helpful online resources we can refer to, etc. I help my students understand they are capable of more than they think they are!

...My current spare time software projects include writing apps for Garmin watches. My other other spare time is spent outdoors with my Husky, Luna, camping, and playing soccer. Languages: C, C++, Python, PERL, Monkey C, XML.
