...I try to put all of this in a context that the student can grasp easily and intuitively. And when done, I'm sure my students have a greater appreciation of not only the concepts but also their place in this aspect of their lives. The SAT seems to instill a fear in students.

...The most important skill is learning to translate a problem from words to a mathematical formula and being able to perform the algebraic manipulations to find a meaningful answer. I like to teach this. Once a student understands this point, he or she can easily find the motivation to study some extra hours.
