...Students often have difficulty remembering all the rules and are out of practice, which presents a big problem when they get to Algebra 1 and are suddenly called on to pull all these ideas together and use them all at once. It is quite a leap from Arithmetic to Algebra. The ideas are more abstract and demand much more from the student?s problem solving skills and creative abilities.
