...It is such a shame that English is not rigorously taught at most schools today. I can remember strict teachers drilling proper English usage into my head: diagramming sentences, looking up words in the dictionary, re-writing papers that my teachers knew I didn't put much effort into. It's no wonder that my English skills exceed those of most of today's English teachers.
