I believe students should be confident in their math skills. By getting good grades in school, their options in life (e.g. jobs, career paths) are kept open. I gauge where the student is at in knowing the concepts by having him/her work out the problems.

...I do my best to guide my students towards, not only the right answer, but the correct thought process to get there on their own. I tutored physics, physics with calculus, and chemistry for two years at Pacific Union College to underclassmen. I was also a Lab TA for general physics and physics with calculus for two years as well.

...I've been working with linear Algebra since 1994. The only thing that's changed since then, is the status of Fermat's Theorem! I've shadowed and otherwise worked closely with Professor Z, the Math Dept Head for the San Bernardino Community College district.

...Part of my study included learning about Plant genetics which is very different from that of animals in a few ways. Like mitochondria, chloroplasts have their own DNA, complicating pedigrees somewhat. Like animals, plants have somatic mutations regularly, but these mutations can contribute to the germ line with ease, since flowers develop at the ends of branches composed of somatic cells.
