I am a graduate of Oberlin College with honors in physics. While a student at Oberlin, I tutored freshman-level electricity and magnetism, corrected problem sets for courses of all levels, and taught a recreation course for several semesters. My greatest interest is in helping students with the tools that will allow them to succeed in math and the sciences as we work through specific material.

...I have taken undergraduate level organic chemistry (lecture/lab). I have also taken graduate level organic chemistry and medical school biochemistry which incorporates medicine and organic chemistry. I love organic chemistry and would love to have the opportunity to teach this! I have taken physiology courses in the medical school setting.

...I love the tutoring setting because it is more of an academic coaching than a straightforward teacher. In a smaller one-on-one setting you end up personally invested in the learning of the individual. All you attention gets to be focused on one place making it easier to present content, track learning and tailor teaching methods.

...As opposed to simply teaching the facts, I help the student to develop their own faculties of studying, learning, forming mnemonics, time management, and creating a repetition schedule. This ensures that the student is studying more efficiently and can remember more for a longer period of time. I teach all subjects with the same fundamental process.

...As a student I also struggle in every subject I am tutoring now but every time I was struggling I told myself that I can do it and this allowed me to take a step back to analyze what I am doing wrong. Once I figure it out I then proceed to fix it and this allowed me to pass my courses with A's. Now as I tutor I make sure I do the same for my students to allow my students to succeed.
