Solving a Proportion

To solve this, and find the value of x: write an equation, on the left side multiply the means, on the right side, multiply the extremes. Then solve the equation for x.

2 * x = 1 * 6

2x = 6
--   -  Divide each side by 2
2    2

x = 3

Now you know that x is equal to 3. This means that
