I have been trying to resolve the following problem. However I have not achieved to work out the second part. I would aprreciate if someone could help in doing it:
Firts part.
In Octuber 2001, the price of petrol at a particular UK petrol station was 69.9 pence per litre.
Question
Write down an equation for the cost y, in pound, of purchasing x litres of petrol
Answer.
£y = .699x (where y is in pound and x in litres)
SECOND PART (I have not been able to understand how I could write the equation)
The Uk petrol station had a promotion: an atlas worth £10 was given free with every petrol purchase over £10.
Question.
Amend your answer to the first part to deduct the value of the atlas from the total price.
